WARD BOND 9 APRIL, 1903 - 5 NOVEMBER, 1960
I love a lot of the big movie star names but I have always had a fondness too for character and supporting actors.
One of the very best was Ward Bond who was born on this day (9 April) in 1903. Sadly he died at 57 on 5 November, 1960.
He made quite a lot of films, notably ones starring John Wayne and directed by John Ford, among them The Searchers (1956) and The Quiet Man (1952).
He appeared as a cop in Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life (1946).
He starred as Major Seth Adams in 137 episodes of TV's Wagon Train from 1957 until his death.
Here's a link to his rather impressive screen CV:

Happy to salute Ward Bond today.
Note:
From July 2011 to March 2023, I built my Dropped the Moon blog and received 333, 384 views. Here is the link to that archive of musings, poetry, celebrity profiles, fast fiction, book reviews, music reviews, and much else - https://droppedthemoon.blogspot.com Please have a browse any time. Due to a technical hitch, I have decided to create a new blog called '2023 New Dropped the Moon', to carry on doing what I have done since 2011. I hope you enjoy both the archive and the continuance of posts.
